Practical Tips for Performing Sialendoscopy

(Nahlieli and Baruchin, J Oral Maxillofac Surg 57:1394–401, 1999) were the first to describe the retrieval of salivary gland stonesSalivary gland stones with a nasal endoscope. Subsequently, dedicated Sialendoscopy instruments were developed and applied to a larger scale. SialendoscopySialendoscopy can retrieve stones and treat strictures from recurrent sialadenitis or autoimmune diseases. In addition, Sialendoscopy dilation is particularly useful for treating radioiodine-induced sialadenitis. The purpose of this chapter is to explain the practical techniques in using sialoendoscopy.
