Intraoperative Decisions for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Management

In the United States, approximately 50,000 people are diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) a year. Surgery remains the primary treatment method for these tumors with radiation with or without chemotherapy used in the adjuvant setting. In this chapter, we focus on the principles of ablative and reconstructive surgery in the management of OSCC. The surgical treatment of OSCC should be tailored to the patient’s specific needs to provide personalized surgical care and optimize patient outcomes.
