Dual View Anamorphosis

The so-called dual view anamorphosis or double anamorphosis means dynamic installations that require the motion of the objects themselves (for example, their rotation around an axis of revolution) or the movement of the observers, looking to assume the correct position to enjoy a meaningful perception of the installation, that is strongly distorted in all the other possible positions. A dual view anamorphosis is characterised by the presence of two privileged points of view. From one advantageous point of view to the other, the observers experiment with a violent transformation of the original image into something unrecognisable anymore, unless they get to the second privileged point of view, where they experiment with the perception of a totally different meaningful shape. The chapter describes, by means of some artistic and didactic examples, how folded surfaces can be very effective for this purpose because, when viewed from very lateral points of view, many faces are not visible.
