This chapter considers graphing methods to illustrate some of the results forthcoming from the 2 × 2 contingency tableContingency table, in particular the receiver operating characteristicReceiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) plot or curve (ROC) plot or curve. The ROC plot may be used to define “optimal” test cut-offs, by various methods, which may then be used in the construction of the 2 × 2 table, so influencing all the outcome measures considered in previous chapters.
