Data Gathering of Guided Expert Interviews

  • Natalie Kiesler

摘要

In addition to the gathering and analysis of curricula data, guided interviews with experts were conducted to identify further competencies expected from novice programmers but also factors contributing to or hindering student learning. In this chapter, the objectives, relevance, expectations, and limitations of the method are discussed. Moreover, the methodological process of designing and conducting these interviews is presented. The methodology to gather the interview data highlights all preparatory steps, such as the development of guiding interview questions. Further considerations comprise the selection of experts, contacting them, and conducting the interviews before the transcription process and analysis of the interview data are presented. For the data analysis, the category system resulting from the qualitative content analysis of university curricula will be reused and extended by inductively built categories.
