Maintenance
摘要
For a removable partial denture (RPD) treatment to be successful, an appropriate follow-up care is crucial. This follow-up care begins at the day of insertion and continues as the patient uses the prosthesis. Ongoing alveolar bone resorptions together with the wear of the denture materials in time or misuse by the patients necessitate a proper maintenance for RPDs. The patients should be advised about the care that should be given to the prosthesis and the possible situations that may require adjustments in time before insertion of the RPDs. This chapter focuses on the procedures used for the RPD maintenance. The techniques used for relining and rebasing, as well as advice for easy repairs that the clinicians can complete in one appointment and more complex ones that can only be completed at the laboratory, are all discussed in detail.
