Management of Temporomandibular Disorders in Partially Edentulous Patients
摘要
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a common condition that affects the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and surrounding structures, causing pain and dysfunction. The management of TMD in these patients requires a thorough evaluation of the occlusion, TMJ, and associated musculature. Treatment options may include occlusal splints, physical therapy, medication and occlusal adjustments if needed. The success of TMD management in partially edentulous patients relies on close collaboration between the dentist, physical therapist, and other healthcare professionals. A comprehensive approach that addresses both the underlying causes of TMD and the patient’s functional and esthetic needs can lead to improved quality of life and long-term success of the dental restorations.
