Establishing Occlusal Relationships

  • Tonguç Sülün

摘要

Establishing occlusal relationships for partial edentulous patients is a critical step in ensuring proper function and long-term success of dental restorations. The process involves a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s occlusion, including tooth position, occlusal plane, and interocclusal distance. This evaluation helps the dentist determine the most appropriate occlusal scheme for the restoration, which may include bilateral balanced occlusion, group function, or canine guidance. Proper occlusal relationships can also help prevent occlusal trauma, tooth wear, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. With careful consideration and planning, establishing occlusal relationships for partial edentulous patients can lead to successful, functional, and aesthetically pleasing restorations.
