Life, Matter and Mapping: Ocular Revision
摘要
This chapter begins by describing the mid-20th Century shift in the field of Biology from the living cell to non-living DNA. Then it addresses a key metaphor of DNA science–the metaphor of the (genetic) map and its associates: colonialism, abstraction and rationalized space. Drawing on DNA imaging techniques first explored in Latent Figure Protocol, the Ocular Revision project is an oppositional strategy, rematerializing the territory of the map and (electrically) polarizing the Cartesian logic of contemporary techno-science.
