A Matter of Time. Somatic Illness and Evolved Delusion. How Time Plays a Critical Role in Delusional Infestation
摘要
From the late 1900s to the present, Delusional Infestation (DI) has evolved from a rarely reported disorder to one that is quite common. Most cases result from underlying undiagnosed medical conditions with an overlay of psychiatric investment which is protective against differential diagnosis. As time progresses, the psychiatric component evolves into an unshakable belief system that isolates patients from society and in some cases sends them into years of unnecessary suffering. Time is an important contributing element in the development of this disorder.
