Management of Thoracic Esophagus Cancer

  • Omer Engin

摘要

The surgical approach in thoracic esophageal cancers can be open surgery or minimally invasive surgical methods. In the minimally invasive surgical method, the abdominal phase can be the laparoscopic or robotic surgery. In the minimally invasive method, the thoracic phase can be performed with video-assisted thoracic surgery or robotic surgery. Different combinations of open and minimally invasive methods can be selected in surgery. This selection may vary depending on the facilities of the operating center and the experience and choice of the surgeon. After esophagus resection, stomach, colon, and proximal jejunum can be brought into the thorax instead of the esophagus and gastrointestinal continuity can be provided, as well as free pedicle jejunum graft can also be used after cervical esophageal resection.
