Nuclear Medicine in Esophageal Cancer

  • Emel Ceylan Gunay

摘要

Accurate staging of esophageal cancer is crucial for optimal management of the disease and improved survival outcomes. Nuclear medicine imaging techniques have been increasingly utilized for the diagnosis, staging, and response to the treatment of esophageal cancer. Positron emission tomography (PET) is the main nuclear medicine imaging technique in oncological management. PET imaging has been used in the detection and staging of esophageal cancer and can provide additional information to conventional imaging techniques. PET imaging can also be used to assess treatment response and guide decisions on subsequent treatment strategies. In this chapter, the role of PET has been discussed for the management of esophageal cancer.
