摘要

Media reports are influenced by day-to-day occurrences. This implies that newspapers report not simply on topics at random but that they do so in relation to current events which are regarded as newsworthy. In this chapter we explore variations in the frequency of the media coverage on Jews and Judaism in the West and on Muslims and Islam in the West. We discuss how the articles comprised in our sample relate to current events, both in terms of sudden incidents and more general developments, and conclude on how the idiosyncratic coverage on Jews and Muslims, respectively, may be linked to the stereotyping and framing in the articles.
