Methodology
摘要
This chapter introduces our multimethod approach to analyzing the media portrayal of Jews and Judaism in the West and Muslims and Islam in the West in German print media. We explain our sampling procedure of randomly constructing one week per six-month period. For these dates we administered a keyword search on our groups of interest. Following a description of our final sample of newspaper articles, this chapter then introduces the methodology of our qualitative study following the sociology of knowledge approach to discourse. Thereafter we explain our quantitative analyses regarding intergroup comparisons across various characteristics ascribed to the two groups of interest, including software-assisted sentiment analysis with the emotional dictionaries of LIWC and ed8.
