Writing the Human Narrative

In June of 2022, we entered a new age, an Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence. That month, OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research lab, introduced ChatGPT3, an AI tool, much like an app, that can generate original poetry and prose, summarize massive sets of diverse documents, translate languages, write original computer programs, and engage in extended discussions with human beings with varied responses based upon the flow of ideas. Even in this early stage of development, ChatGTP3 was able to pass multiple-choice and essay exams at the graduate level. In many cases, any differences between the output produced by the tool and human linguistic expression are virtually indistinguishable.
