摘要

This chapter employs the Akan Adinkra symbol of Funtumfunafu, Denkyemfunafu; conjoined crocodiles sharing one stomach, which symbolizes their shared destiny despite their different needs and desires, as an entry point for reflections on reciprocity and being human. Our shared humanity denotes a common destiny and the importance of compromise and fellow feeling at the core of humanitarian work. The chapter calls for an engagement with principles of reciprocity in our relationships in order to facilitate equity in humanitarian work.
