Conclusion: Relationship Between Refugee and Media: A Way Forward

As the famous saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. The publication of the pictures of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi’s dead body on a beach in Turkey shook the world. Public opinion about the refugee and migrant crisis in the Mediterranean and how the media reports these incidents got attention from both global media scholars and practitioners. The authors in this book have addressed the coverage of refugees in various forms of media, ranging from music videos to documentaries, and from art and local/traditional media to social media. In addition to different types of media, media settings in various regions and socio-economic settings give us a solid outlook on the representation of refugees in media across nations and cultures.
