Enhanced Performance of Propane Refrigerant at LNG Plant in Hot Climate: Case Study

As a desirable source of energy, natural gas is attracting more and more attention. This led to a challenge to the LNG producing facility to enhance the liquefaction capacity. This study’s goal is to increase production at the existing plant’s liquefaction unit. Limiting the variance in atmospheric temperature is crucial to the effectiveness of the condensing system when the propane refrigerant is condensed using air coolers. This will have an impact on the temperature and vaporization rates of natural gas. Increase the load on the propane compressor and air coolers, though, until the refrigerant’s condensing rate is impacted. When Propane-MR refrigerants are utilized as the technology for natural gas liquefaction, this will limit the plant’s ability to operate at full capacity. In order to maintain a high efficiency performance of the propane refrigerant condensing system in the LNG plant during hot climate conditions (25 °C–35 °C), this study focuses on a cost-effective approach.
