Risk Categorization for Various Project Delivery Methods in Construction Sector

One of the biggest problems facing the building industry is how to improve the performance and effectiveness of projects that are becoming more unpredictable and dynamic. Throughout a building’s lifecycle, sustainable construction refers to a structure and method of use that are resource and environmentally-conscious. Sustainable building techniques have been created in the construction sector in an effort to lessen its negative effects on the environment. It has been evident that the tendering and contractual risks for various Project Delivery Methods (PDM) in project development and planning have been widely studied. However, construction risks, operational performance risks over post construction phase and during the whole project’s life cycle associated to various types of PDMs have not been the focus in the past studies. This study conducted a risk categorization to present knowledge about risks of various PDMs during project’s life cycle. The identification of these risks could assist in improving project performance of future projects that use alternative PDMs.
