摘要

Based on the firm belief in the importance of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations (UN) in achieving a sustainable future, Port Said University (PSU) encourages researchers to pursue their research in sustainability. This study explored the sustainability research conducted by the researchers at PSU with their collaborators worldwide. This review focused on the contributions towards the achievement of the UN sustainability goals, also referred to as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Several research topics, methodologies, and key outcomes of PSU were discussed and presented towards sustainability. It was found that the researchers at PSU have carried out substantial efforts in the research topics that focused on the achievement of the SDGs with significant progress in SDG 2 to SDG 16. Remarkable improvements in research conducted at PSU towards gender equality (SDG 5), clean water sanitation (SDG 6), affordable clean energy (SDG 7), and climate action (SDG 13) were recognized within the last decade. However, there are still areas for potential improvement across SDG 1 and SDG 2 into which the researchers at PSU need to put more effort. It is highlighted that continuing the investment in sustainability research at PSU is crucial to sustaining the university’s contributions towards achieving the SDGs.
