A Parent’s Perspective
摘要
The struggles associated with adolescence and young adulthood are frequently amplified for young people with ASD. This chapter is a personal account of what worked and what didn’t for my son as he matured and faced many additional challenges. Puberty didn’t come with a “how-to” book for navigating some of the more exceptional and emotional issues he suddenly faced. As his life became more complex, I too had to pivot to keep up with the needs and to see into his future. This is the condensed version of how our approach changed over time, and how I learned to love the IEP.
