3D Printing and CNC Machining: Materials, Technologies, and Process Parameters

Industry and industrial production in today’s world represent one of the main drivers of the economy and development. One of the relatively newer methods of production is additive manufacturing or better known as 3D printing. Unlike traditional ways of manufacturing parts, 3D printing adds material layer-by-layer and gives the possibility of creating complex shapes that are almost impossible to create with classical methods. In order to improve the surface quality of 3D printed parts, CNC technologies can be used for part finishing. This paper presents an overview of the possibilities of combining 3D printing and CNC technologies, recommendations for material selection, process parameters, technical data, as well as their use in the finishing process.
