摘要

This chapter discusses the importance of integrating international student support across student affairs functions at institutions of higher education. The work of international student support has primarily been the work of international student services (ISS) offices, but a more integrative approach serves all students, not just international. The authors provide a brief history of international students in the United States, including the recent shifts in inbound mobility. Given the fluctuations in enrollment numbers, and increasingly sparse resources, universities can no longer afford not to un-silo the work across divisions. Serving international students better across campus will ultimately make the environment better for everybody because it fundamentally shifts the way that student affairs professionals collectively serve marginalized populations.
