Democratic Education to me simply means education by democratic means and toward democratic ends. This means that everything from classroom structure to learning goals should be developed with student input and collective empowerment in mind. Music can and should be at the center of any democratic education philosophy, as it provides a powerful context for students to both grow and have an impact on the world around them.
