Students Satisfaction and Virtual Learning Service Delivery at Bugema University
摘要
Although universities in Uganda moved towards digitisation and online learning in the past decades, these aren’t widespread. Most Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) focused on delivering online courses in tandem with physical classes to facilitate the students’ learning. However, owing to the pandemic, most universities moved to fully online learning to leverage learning. Yet, learners’ satisfaction which is one of the important instruments to investigate the effectiveness of these online courses wasn’t substantiated. This chapter investigated students’ satisfaction and virtual learning service delivery with the objective being to establish the relationship between students’ virtual learning satisfaction and the virtual teaching service delivery of academic staff in Bugema University. The data (64 valid responses) were analysed quantitatively using percentages. The findings show that the online examination procedure used by their lecturers, the level of usage of multimedia and the interactivity of the lecturers in the virtual learning environment (VLE) were good, while the quality of the internet and the level of utilisation of the university online resources were faulted. It was recommended that universities need to build competent, available technical teams to be able to fully support their lecturers and students during and after the virtual learning sessions.
