Political Islam in Greece: An Elusive Threat?

  • Emmanuel Karagiannis

摘要

The chapter first briefly describes the methodology of this research. Then it focuses on two case studies: the Arab-speakers and the Pakistani community in Greece. It assesses their relationship to political Islam and Islamism. While Greece has not experienced an Islamist attack yet, militant groups has used the country as a stopover to Europe. Therefore, the chapter also outlines the presence of Salafis and ISIS operatives in the country, which has raised concerns among the Greek authorities. Additionally, it examines how the Greek radical left has embraced Islamism as a revolutionary force against the West. The chapter concludes with a subsection on the prospects for the future and policy recommendations.
