Huygens and the Clock

Christiaan Huygens made major improvements to the two most important navigational tools of the seventeenth century, the telescope and the clock. As described in previous chapters, Huygens, together with his brother Constantijn, greatly improved the telescope, becoming the first to make significant astronomical observations.
