Three of the most important works on the science of physics in the seventeenth century are Galileo’s Discourses and Mathematical Demonstrations Relating to Two New Sciences (1638), Christiaan Huygens’ Horologium Oscillatorium (1673) and Isaac Newton’s Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica (1687).
