摘要

Reconciling sustainability with agricultural productivity relies strongly on crop improvement. The continuous development of new plant breeding methods and high investment in crop research has triggered an unprecedented acceleration of progress in crop productivity. Companies active in the seed sector are innovative to meet the challenging and ever-evolving needs of growers, farmers, consumers, and other actors of the agri-food value chain. Communication and stakeholder engagement are extremely important to identify shared values and goals in the transition to more sustainable food systems. The seed sector is characterised by a multitude of collaborations and partnerships that contribute to the development of improved, high-quality, and diverse plant varieties that address specific market needs. In this article, we describe on behalf of Euroseeds the view of the European seed sector on plant breeding innovation.
