Perioperative Management

This chapter first provides practical instruction on preparing the patient for intraoperative monitoring, in particular on placing, securing, and designating the electrodes. This is followed by information on setting up the monitoring system, including the selection of the program, the parameters relevant for the measurements, and basic steps to be taken during the actual measurement process. Finally, instructions to complete the measurement program, to remove and reprocess the electrodes, and to document of the measurement data are explained. The chapter concludes with information on general conduct rules for non-surgical personnel in the operating room.
