‘The Poor Bugger Has Suffered Enough’: Vernon Ah Kee, Warwick Thornton, and the Unmaking of a White Jesus
摘要
This chapter reflects on artworks by two prominent Aboriginal artists: Vernon Ah Kee and Warwick Thornton. In particular, the author reflects on artworks in which Ah Kee and Thornton subvert Western representations of Jesus Christ. Drawing on these reflections, the author pursues a theology of empowerment and liberation that emphasises life and joy, rather than suffering and victimhood.
