Use of Validated Instruments to Assess Eating Disorder Cognitions and Behaviors in Adults
摘要
Utilizing psychometrically sound assessments is a critical component to studying and treating eating disorders and related pathology. This chapter provides information on a variety of structured clinical interviews and self-report questionnaires that were developed to assess eating disorder symptoms in both general adult and specific adult (e.g., athletes, males) populations. Information in this chapter is intended to help readers select the most appropriate assessment tools based on their needs and available resources (e.g., assessment goals, assessor training), as well as the characteristics of each instrument (e.g., psychometric properties, age appropriateness, length, available translations). In addition, the chapter provides information regarding the use of assessments to guide diagnosis, case formulation, and treatment in a clinical context.
