Introduction

This book offers a biosemiotic architectural treatise. An amalgamation of biosemiotic and architectural theory it is the first book of its kind. Fundamentally concerned with issues of space and information, how architecture is communicative, and consequently how one perceives and interprets meaning in architecture. The book is fundamentally concerned with ‘space’ and how perception of space informs how architects, and other built environment professionals, go about forming the built environment. Indeed, we might consider this extends generally to how we as a species build and go about forming our place in the world, because space and our interactions in the world are a product of semiosic interplay.
