The Climate of Poland

Poland is located on the western periphery of the Eurasian continent, which, together with the predominance of western circulation of the temperate zone, translates into a greater influence of the Atlantic. Only in the eastern part of the country, the influence of the continent is more pronounced. The border identifying the prevalence of one of these areas is hard to draw, which classifies Poland’s climate as ‘transitional’. Due to the positive thermal anomaly in this part of the temperate zone, Poland’s climate can be defined as ‘warm-temperate’, in accordance with the classic classification by Köppen. Only the climate of north-eastern and eastern Poland should be classified as a cooler, snow forest type of temperate climates. In terms of precipitationPrecipitation regime, compared to the conditions on land in a similar geographical zone, Poland’s climate belongs to the group of humid climates.
