摘要

In Huambo-Angola, different farming structures are observed, which are responsible for agricultural production that is still insufficient to cover family needs due to low productivity, irregular supply and reduced capacity to compete with imports. This work aims to define and analyse their family farming systems to understand the technological potential and redefine their fundamental objective to feed the family, improve well-being and reduce poverty. Based on surveys of family farmers, the findings show that farming systems are structured by different area sizes, land access, productive activities, used technologies, market integration levels, and farmer characteristics, with reflect in market orientation. To refine agribusiness perspectives for the future, small farmers will have a social and territorial role balanced by other market- and industrial-orientated farms.
