Conclusion: The Power-Sharing Lifecycle across the Global South

This chapter assesses commonalities and differences between the cases studied in this volume. It utilizes the three stages in the power-sharing lifecycle—adoption, function, and (possible) end—to reflect on the power-sharing journeys captured by the authors in their respective chapters. The chapter highlights the diverse power-sharing trajectories taken across the Global South, the full range of institutional tools in the power-sharing toolbox, and the interconnections between the different stages of the power-sharing lifecycle. Variations in institutional design choices, temporality, adaptability, and government performance are stressed.
