Tooth Profile Design Theory of Asymmetrical Involute Cylindrical Worm in Face Worm Gear Drive

The asymmetry tooth profile design theory of the offset involute cylindrical worm is analyzed systematically. Based on the reference circle diameter of the worm obtained by AGMA formula, a series of design parameter calculation formulae of the offset involute cylindrical worm are derived. Besides, the axial and end section of the tooth profile of the offset involute cylindrical worm are studied. The results show that a series of parameters such as normal section pressure angle, end section pressure angle, helical angle of base circle and radius of base circle can be obtained from the basic parameters such as axial tooth profile angle, diameter of reference circle and modulus.
