ePortfolios Based on Self-Regulated Learning Components in Flexible Learning for Engineers as a Vehicle for Academic and Career Development
摘要
Electronic Portfolios (ePortfolios) have become a popular pedagogical approach on the tertiary educational landscape worldwide. The ePortfolio development is based on the fact that the reflective practice of its creation allows students to document and track their learning, develop a coherent picture of their learning experience, and improve their self-understanding. This paper outlines the process of integrating an ePortfolio as a tool of professional development for students in tertiary education. As it is assumed that ePortfolios contribute to Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), the construction of the ePortfolio can be based on the Self-Regulated Learning strategies as well, as a parallel process that can lead learners to construct their artifacts and reflect on their prior knowledge. The evaluation of the research is based on qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results prove the correlation between the enhancement of students’ self-regulation and the construction of an academic e-portfolio for the promotion of academic and career development.
