Where to from Here?

Looking to the future, the author discusses what more can be done to improve the safety of officers when confronting lethal risks. While the use of newly developed technology appears to offer the next step forward in reducing risk, the author cautions that current safety policies also need to be maintained and not be watered down. Benchmarking against similar jurisdictions and their approach to safety is discussed, drawing from the international comparison in Chap. 7 . Finally, the vexed issue of managing people experiencing mental health episodes is considered, with multi-disciplinary teams showing promise in reducing risk from such encounters.
