Environmental Impact and Sustainability Assessments

Solar ponds are offered as an environmentally beneficial and promising solution that deserves further exploration. As they generate clean and sustainable energy options, as well as having a positive impact on the environment, they are appealing options for addressing local energy challenges. Better design and management of solar ponds are expected to help for a wider utilization. This chapter examines two important subjects, namely environmental impact assessment and sustainability evaluation of solar ponds under various criteria. A number of environmental impact analysis and assessment tools are discussed along with impact criteria. A comprehensive discussion of sustainable development is included. A number of examples are also provided for discussion and identification.
