Analysis and Assessment of Solar Ponds
摘要
Solar pond systems are proposed as simple and locally feasible solutions in regions where there is plenty of sunshine. Such solar pond systems combine a solar energy collection system with a heat storage system. We discuss the techniques used to model and assess the performance of solar ponds in this chapter. The performance of solar ponds is determined by factors such as thermal energy storage capacity, construction and maintenance costs, and the thermophysical properties of the pond and working fluid. This chapter begins with fundamental concepts of thermodynamics. The next step is to analyze solar ponds energetically and exergetically. Heat transfer analyses of solar ponds are then performed. By using these analytical and numerical techniques, solar ponds offer an environmentally friendly solution for harnessing solar energy, addressing the locally growing energy demands.
