General Introduction to Model-Based Cognitive Neuroscience

In this chapter, we provide an overview to the second edition of the Introduction to Model-based Cognitive Neuroscience (MbCN) book. In so doing, we provide a gentle introduction to motivate the use of cognitive models in understanding data, followed by a high-level summary of the many strategies for linking cognitive models to neurophysiological data. We then discuss a few key applications of MbCN while highlighting specific contributions that will be discussed within the book. We close with an outlook on potential future directions in the field.
