Air-Conditioning Processes

This chapter covers air-conditioning processes. After a brief introduction to air-conditioning processes in Sect. 5.1, cooling and dehumidification, apparatus dew point (ADP), and by-pass factor (BF), are covered in Sect. 5.2. Heating and humidification is covered in Sect. 5.3. Coverage in Sect. 5.4 includes coverage of cooling towers, and their range, approach, and cooling efficiency. Section 5.5 covers sensible heating and sensible cooling is covered in Sect. 5.6. Other, less common air-conditioning processes such as isothermal humidification/dehumidification, chemical dehumidification, and evaporative cooling are covered in Sect. 5.7. Section 5.8 covers adiabatic saturation and saturation efficiency. Adiabatic mixing of air streams is covered in Sect. 5.9.
