Support Areas: Fluid Mechanics
摘要
This chapter covers fluid mechanics and its specific applications for heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. After an introduction in Sect. 1.1, Sect. 1.2 covers fluid properties and units. The topics of continuity equation, the differences between static and velocity pressures, and pitot tube are covered in Sect. 1.3. Section 1.4 is an expansive section covering a wide range of topics related to fluid flow in HVAC ducts including friction head loss, pressure drop, pressure loss charts, duct sizing, friction loss due to fittings and components, and entrance and exit losses. Section 1.5 covers fans used in moving air through HVAC systems including fan power, affinity laws, fan performance, system curve, and fan selection.
