Discussion

The findings from the Doctor Doom analysis are compared to those from the signifier survey, examining the differences between the two and discussing the benefits of using an empirical tool rather than relying on the qualitative findings of a survey of individual opinions. A further range of possibilities for ways in which the catalogue could be employed are then discussed, in the hope that other researchers will be able to use it to analyse other characters and then, by making the resulting datasets available, compare these character analyses alongside each other, creating an ever-growing dataset which can be used to examine the question of character coherence in new and more informative ways.
