Introduction

The purpose of this book—to define a straightforward methodology for empirically analysing transmedia characters as they move through time and across different media types—is set out, followed by a justification for the choice of Doctor Doom as the main case study. The author’s status as an ‘Aca-Fan’ is discussed, followed by an overview of the book as a whole.
