Basic and Advanced Behavior Guidance Templates Based on the Frankl Behavior Rating Scale
摘要
This chapter provides basic and advanced behavior guidance templates based on the Frankl behavior rating of the child. The traits of each Frankl category are discussed in detail to help the clinician identify and classify children with an accurate behavior rating. The varied clinical presentations of children displaying definitely negative behavior (Frankl behavior rating scale), requiring the need for their further subcategorization to enable a treatment plan, are explained. Accordingly, subcategories for Frankl definitely negative behavior rating are provided to help the clinician build behavior guidance templates based on the traits of each subcategory. The chapter also suggests indications for moderate sedation, deep sedation with an open airway, and general anesthesia under endotracheal intubation. Indications for oral, intranasal, and intramuscular midazolam are discussed. Indications for inhalation sedation and when to combine midazolam with inhalation sedation are also discussed. The chapter reemphasizes that moderate sedation with midazolam is most effective only when combined with sound techniques of communicative behavior guidance and local anesthesia. The chapter ends by outlining a list of practical indications for midazolam in Pediatric Dentistry.
