An Introduction to Parametrically Excited Systems and Their Importance on the Dynamics of Slender Structures

This chapter brings an introduction on the dynamics of parametrically excited system. After a brief presentation of the problem in systems with one degree of freedom, some analytical and numerical methods for investigating this class of problems are presented and discussed. Since the parametric excitation is an important phenomenon on the dynamics of slenders structures, an overview of recent contributions on the theme is brought together with aspects related to its mathematical modeling.
