摘要

In this chapter we first describe cross-time trends in Jewish religious intermarriage in Canada. We then present a binary logistic regression analysis of data from the 2018 Survey of Jews in Canada to identify factors associated with the propensity of Canadian Jews to marry non-Jews: community size, demographics, primary socialization, secondary socialization and immigration. Next, we offer an historical-institutional explanation for the substantial Canada/US difference in the rate of religious exogamy. Based on our regression analysis, we conclude by recommending policy changes that might impede the increasing rate of religious intermarriage in Canada.
