Conclusion: The Genre of The Contemporary

  • Elif Toprak Sakız

摘要

This book has argued that postmillennial British cosmopolitan fiction probes and employs themes of vernacular cosmopolitanism by showing the ways in which the plurality of meanings, territories, and identities in cosmopolitan thought can be reflected in the contemporary novel in the rendering of cosmopolitan characters, spaces, and situations. Tracing newer meanings of cosmopolitanism, this book has explored both the thematic and aesthetic characteristics of the cosmopolitan fiction by offering novel terminology. By relating common concerns of cosmopolitan fiction to that of the contemporary life, this chapter argues that this is the genre of the contemporary.
